Honoring My Musical Roots
In the aphoristic compositions of “Tribut” I reflect on three musically and personally formative backgrounds of my compositional work.
“Lichtbögen” (6:53 min) takes up, in mantra-like repetitions, elements of “New Age” meditation music and of “minimal music”: a trance process as a portal to an expanded dimension of depth that flows into powerful anchoring.
“und doch so fern” (5:27 min) refers to the ethnic sound worlds of Far Eastern cultures, whose instruments, with their characteristic tunings and playing gestures, interlock meditatively as a static web.
In “hommage” (5:00 min) I translate stylistic elements of late Romantic symphonic music into my world – music that has shaped me since the age of 12. Anton Bruckner's register-like sound turns stand alongside expressive webs of lines and montage processes from Gustav Mahler's groundbreaking art.
