Annotated feature concert with
Video Visiographies and exhibition
Friday, 30 June 2017, from 21:00
The composer and sound and image artist Klaus Damm follows the traces of unheard-of inner worlds in his interdisciplinary “Video Visiographies”: sound and image compositions as dialogues between electronically realized sound worlds and archaic-archetypal video sequences made from photo composings.
With his Video Visiographies, the Folkwang graduate has developed a cross-genre art form in his very own language of sound and image.
The video concert in Cologne's “Art & Amen" church St. Michael allows a look back at seven years of this work.

Artistic approach
In these large-scale works, Klaus Damm leads through subtle sound and image processes into spaces of perception that allow the listener and viewer to surrender to their own innermost cores of being, to experience being held in deep levels of consciousness, to experience being one.
These are slow processes of opening, with moments of silence and contemplation, which reveal themselves when one follows the strangely familiar traces the artist uncovers:
Archaic, archetypal worlds of sound and image, as if from other universes and yet very close. Echoes of fragments of the ever familiar go hand in hand with an intimation of the mystical connectedness of the deep inner self with the infinitely vast outside.
The neo-Romanesque church of St. Michael is the striking landmark of Brüsseler Platz. As the third-largest church in Cologne, with its “bright, spacious and quiet atmosphere it offers plenty of room for very different events."
“St. Michael is meant to be a place for events on the border between cult and culture, between artistic expressiveness and spirituality. With Art & Amen, St. Michael opens itself to the artistic and spiritual forms of expression of contemporary culture and precisely in this way becomes a place of lingering and contemplation.
Art & Amen is a cooperation of the parish with artists, people working in culture, restaurateurs and other creative people of the neighborhood, with the aim of establishing St. Michael as a living place for culture & spirituality. For creative work in the neighborhood, in this city and beyond the city's borders.”
